elisabeth emma

My big sister, a keen fashion historian and seamstress, always wanted me to keep a daily fashion diary that would serve as a record for future generations of everyday dress in our lifetime.

Sadly, my sister died in 2011, before our project came to fruition. This blog is for her; I'm just sorry that I didn't start it sooner. I hope she would approve.

Meet the blogger

Name: Victoria

Occupation: Jet setter and fashion + travel blogger

Who is Elisabeth Emma? Elisabeth Emma was my sister, who passed away in 2011. I write this blog because she always wanted me to keep a fashion diary; it seemed fitting to name it after her.

Astrological sign: Aquarius (the best!)

Your inspiration this season: I’m afraid we were awfully slow to catch on, but Mad Men all the way - whether I’m channeling Joan with bold colours and fitted silhouettes or Betty in whimsical florals…

Must have beauty items: First and foremost: BB cream. I love Korean beauty products, and I generally use creams by Missha or Dr. G. They have high SPF, they’re super moisturising, and make my skin look really natural, and really healthy. A really good lip product, too; something in a great colour that moisturises, too. Revlon lip butters are fantastic! My favourite is Candy Apple. You can also use it on your cheeks if you don’t have any blusher with you.

Nail polish or Au Natural? I’m not much of a nail polish girl, because I don’t really have time to have them done (or to do them myself). I prefer a healthy, bare nail polished to a natural sheen with one of those brilliant three way buffers… As long as your cuticles are neat, your hands will look fine!

Signature scent: Victor + Rolf Flowerbomb, or a simple rose scent. I also like Tom Ford Neroli Portofino - it’s so fresh and summery.

Favourite Film: I couldn’t pick just one… My all time favourites include The Virgin Suicides, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and High Society. I adore Grace Kelly. But if I’m feeling low, nothing cheers me up like Father of the Bride!

Which album would be the soundtrack to your life? AIR, Talkie Walkie

Dream destination: I’ve yet to visit Hawaii, and I’m itching to go.

Celebrity style you admire most: Gwyneth Paltrow rarely puts a foot wrong. I also love Kate Bosworth - she always looks so effortlessly chic, so natural. Keira Knightley, particularly in Atonement, The Edge of Love and her Chanel ads. And Olivia Palermo, who is both modern and elegant. She always looks ladylike, but never boring.

Favorite place to shop : Reiss and Hobbs are my current favourites. They’re not cheap, but their garments are always well cut and pretty timeless. I have no time for bargain basement, fast fashion retailers like Primark. I think they’re so unethical, and I find the idea of disposable fashion repellant. Buy garments that you love, and that will last!
